Week 1 – Friday

Scripture

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.3 He restores my soul.He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Observation

Loving the Lord with your whole heart means that you make him your ultimate treasure. One way to make the Lord your treasure is by reflecting on who he is. The word of God helps us to know who God is. As you reflect on what the word says about God it should lead to praising him and glorifying his Name.

Application

Take time to praise God for who he is by praying through Psalm 23. Expound on each verse thanking him for who he is.

Prayer

Here is an example of how to pray Psalm 23: “Lord, thank you for being my Shepherd. Thank you that I lack nothing. You are all I need. You are my Provider. Thank you for leading me to green pastures. In your presence is fullness of joy! I am filled with abundant blessing because you are my Shepherd! Thank you for leading me to quiet waters. I feel so much peace in your presence! All my worries and anxieties are gone when I am close to you. There is no God like you. Thank you Jesus.
