Day 4 – Thursday
Read Daniel Chapter 6
Discuss / Journal
What sticks out to you in this story? Are there any verses that you like?
How can this story be applied to your life? Is there anything God might be asking you to do or to change?
Learn
Daniel was faithful; no error or fault could be found in him. He had so much integrity that his enemies had to make up a new law that went against Daniel’s righteous ways. They made it illegal to pray to anyone but King Darius. And anyone who disobeyed this command would be thrown into a lions’ den.
After the law was put into writing, verse 10 says that Daniel went to his home and got on his knees and prayed and gave thanks to God as he always had done. Daniel didn’t let anything or anyone stop his pursuit of God.
Daniel was a highly disciplined man when it came to seeking God. He not only prayed to God daily, but he prayed three times a day! And this wasn’t a short “God thank You for this day” prayer. This was a “get in a quiet place, get on your knees and pray with fire” kind of prayer. Nothing could stop his pursuit of God— not even being thrown into a lion’s den.
Application: How Does Daniel’s Story Apply to You?
The enemy (the devil) and life itself is going to try to throw countless excuses at you as to why you should not pray and read your Bible every day in order to seek God (e.g., homework, sports, work, friends hanging out, the need for more sleep, etc.). It may even become very costly to seek God, as it was for Daniel, but you must be consistent and diligent.
Those who shine like stars don’t let anyone or anything stop their pursuit of God.

What do you do each day to pursue God? Do you have a Bible plan and a way you pray daily? What have you learned from Daniel’s prayer life that you can begin putting into practice to make your prayer life strong?
Pray: Father, I want to seek You like Daniel did. Help me to not be lazy but to be disciplined in my pursuit of You. Jesus, teach me how to pray like You taught Your disciples. Holy Spirit, give me a heart that listens to God. Amen.
In order to help us stay disciplined, my brother and I have used Bible plans and prayer guides to keep us on track. If you don’t have a Bible plan or a Prayer Guide to help you be consistent in your walk with Jesus here are a couple of guides to help you:
