Day 2 – Tuesday

Read Daniel Chapter 2 Aloud

Ask your Child

What sticks out to you in this story? Are there any verses that you like? What do you think God is teaching us in this story?

Learn: (Read or Re-tell)

Daniel and all the wisemen of Babylon were faced with an impossible job. They were not only to interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dream but were to tell him the dream he had. Imagine a king telling you, “Tell me what I dreamed last night, or you will die.” The wisemen and magicians didn’t know what to do, but Daniel did. He went home to his three friends and asked them to join him in seeking the LORD for help. They sought God together, and God revealed the dream to Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar was mind blown, all the wisemen and magicians were saved, and Daniel and his three friends were promoted.

Application: What Does Daniel’s Story Have to Do with You?  (Teach, Read)

Daniel faced a tough and very scary problem that could have cost him and his friends their lives. Although this doesn’t happen to us everyday, there will come times in your life where you are faced with very difficult and dangerous situations.

The only way you will succeed is if you refuse to face the situations alone.

Daniel refused to fight his battle alone.

Those who shine like the stars never fight their battles alone. (Have your child repeat.)

As you start this school year, you must decide now that you will never fight your battles alone. Find friends who know Jesus and who will join you in seeking Him with all their hearts.

Discuss with Your Child

Who are three friends who love Jesus that you can go to when you are facing something really tough?

What are 2 things you can start doing to be a good friend to others?

Take action and set up a time to start praying with them each week. (Example: My brother and I would pray together in front of our school with our friends before school once a week when we were in high school. When we got to college we prayed with all of our Christian friends every Friday night before we hung out.)

Pray: Father, thank You that I never have to fight my battles alone. Thank You for always being with me. Help me to be a friend who helps my friends when they are in trouble. Like Daniel, help me to help my friends seek Your help. Amen.
