Day 24 Prayer Guide – Wednesday

Scripture:

“But thanks be to God, who leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 ESV

Observation:

In a Roman procession the Roman general who conquered his enemy would parade him through the town during his triumphal procession to show if he had conquered him. The enemy (the king) would be chained and at the end sacrificed to his gods. The incense would permeate through the town as a smell of victory for some. For some it was the smell of victory and life. For others the smell of defeat and death.

Application:

Our lives submitted to the Lordship of Christ are a smell of victory for Christ and a smell of death to sin. Does your submission to Jesus’ Lordship present the smell of victory for Christ and the smell of defeat for sin in your life?

Prayer:

Lord, may my life show the victory of Christ and the defeat of sin.
