Statement of Faith
At Southpoint Community Church we believe there are certain essentials that define the people of God. While we do understand that we may never agree on every Biblical doctrine, we recognize that there are essential doctrines upon which faith must be grounded.
We believe the following to be such doctrines; therefore, we stand firm upon this Statement of Faith.
The Bible
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the fully Inspired Word of God and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and practice.
Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His miracles and His sinless life.
We believe in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ; and in His ascension into heaven where He now intercedes for all that believe and that He will one day return to the earth in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit personally indwells every child of God perpetually working to bring about the rule and reign of Jesus. It is by the spirit that we expect to be transformed into the image of Jesus. We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not only in existence and available to those who believe, but are essential to our personal spiritual growth and to the life of the Church.
Man
We believe that man, created in the image of God, rebelled against His Creator and as a result incurred spiritual death, which is separation from God. We also believe that all are sinners and share in common the consequences of sin.
Salvation
We believe that eternal life is the free gift of God, available to all and made possible by the redeeming blood of Christ, shed on the cross; and that one can only be saved by true repentance and faith in the finished work of Christ.
Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are saved unto the resurrection of life, the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
The Enemy
We believe in the existence of Satan, archenemy of God and in the reality of spiritual warfare.
Communion
We believe in and practice the sacraments of the historic church, that being Baptism and Communion.
