“For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” – I Corinthians 1:17 ESV

Sometimes we think we have to be eloquent to preach the gospel, that it’s more important how we look and sound and how smart we are that determines if someone will be saved. But all we need is the simple gospel – showing how Jesus gave his life for us so we could have eternal life and how we must place our trust and loyalty in Him.

Do you feel ineloquent? Incompetent to share the gospel? It’s not your words or how smart you are that saves. It is the Holy Spirit that leads someone to Christ as you declare the gospel.

Lord, it is not about how well I sound, It is you! Help me to boldly proclaim the gospel.
