“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands” – 2 Timothy 1:6

A soul filled and engaged with the presence of the God is the key to the abundant life. Another way of saying this is, “a soul ON FIRE is the key to the abundant life.”  One whose soul is “on fire” for God is one who is desperate for God, one who is hungry to go after God with all that they are, one who is filled with fiery passion to engage the presence of God and do his work. One whose soul is on fire, fully engaged in the presence of God

In a broken world filled with sin, death and discouraging events, life will sometimes simply put out your fire. Sometimes, we have to jump start our faith through spiritual disciplines, such as confessing the word, praying in the Spirit, singing, praying the psalms, worshiping, etc.

Ask yourself: “Is my soul on fire?” “Do I long for Jesus’ presence in my life more than anything else? Am I fully awake to his presence and his desires in my life? Am I desperate for him?”

Spend time today jumpstarting your faith. Try something new. For example, when is the last time you prayed in the Spirit? What about putting on a good worship song and singing on the way to work? What about praying through the psalms, getting on your knees and praying, going on a prayer walk? It’s time to ignite the flame!
