The power to be an effective witness of Christ comes from the Holy Spirit. In Acts 2, after the disciples had prayed together for fifty days, the Holy Spirit came down and filled the disciples. On this day the disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit and transformed into bold, on fire witnesses of Christ. In other words, they were filled up to overflowing. When this happened they began to speak in other languages and boldly proclaim the gospel to the nations. Peter, who once denied Christ out of fear, began to boldly and unashamedly tell everyone around him about the gospel of Jesus. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully on the people listening and three thousand souls were saved and added to the Church on this great day of Pentecost.

To be an effective witness for Christ you must first get filled with the Holy Spirit. Every day we should seek for the Holy Spirit to fill us up to overflowing. We give out of the overflow of the Spirit’s presence in our life. Do you take time to get filled up with the Holy Spirit each day? It’s time to amp up your prayer life these next 50 days.
