Sermon Summary
“Can Jesus do it?” is a question many of us ask ourselves. Can He heal me? Can He fix this broken relationship? Can he fix my problems? The apostle Paul answers this question in his letter to the church of Colossae:
15 He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. – Colossians 1:15-16
The Bible is clear that Jesus can! He is all powerful. He is able! The creation of the stars and vast universe is proof that our problems are small compared to God’s power. It is easy for us to see that Jesus can. But the more difficult question for us to answer is, “Will He?” (“I know God is able. But will he?”). Luke’s gospel answers this question:
12 While [Jesus] was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”13a And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” – Luke 5:12-13
Not only is Jesus able! HE WANTS TO and HE WILL! We know this because Jesus reaches out his hand and touches the leper.

Discussion Questions
- What is something you desperately want Jesus to do in your life? What about in someone else’s life (family, the lost, etc)?
- How does knowing “Jesus can” and “Jesus WANTS to” change how you are going to act in faith to see this miracle happen?
