Reach the people of Haiti
Team Haiti is an ongoing mission through Southpoint Community Church to Carries, Haiti. We travel to Carries several times each year to build a community that has become like a second home to our team.
What we do…
- Preach the Gospel to men, women, and youth. Many people have come to know Jesus and have been water baptized at these gatherings!
- Disciple young men and women using the One2One translated in Haitian Creole.
- Host community weddings and parties to build community within the village.
- Distribute beans, rice, and toiletries throughout the village.
- Bring uniforms and shoes for the students in our village.
Since the 2010 earthquake, we have…
- Built a local church, 12 houses, a community bathroom, school, teen girl home, elderly home, a new boys home for the orphange and in process of building a bigger school building.
- Supported Mission of Grace, which serves the church, school, and orphanage.
- Created reading programs and jobs within the community.
- We have planned for 2020 to build a local bakery and cafe.
Programs with lasting impact…
- Reading: We created a six-month reading program for adults in the local village. Many adults are learning to read for the first time.
- Sanitation: We supply uniforms and materials for five men to keep the village clean of debris. Each worker is paid $80 per month.
- Sponsorship: Team Haiti helped build a house to host 16 teenage girls who were homeless or in desperate need of supervision. We set up a sponsorship program, in which $80 per month will pay for a teenage girl to live in a clean home, eat clean food, wear clean clothing, have oversight by a caring “mama,” and get an education.
- Security Team: Team Haiti helps sponsor a security team of 30 men from our village. the are trained and armed to keep order in the village.Other sponsorships also have a significant impact. These include:
- $80 – one teen girl for one month
- $100 – one waste management worker for one month
- $100 – one family of six with food for one month
- $200 – one year of schooling for one child
- $150 – one bed and mattress
- $8,500 – one house
